Wolves Struggle Against WIU, Tie 4-4

Milwaukee, Wis. – Cardinal Stritch men’s soccer team was looking to get back into the win column today against Webber International University. Stritch could not hold onto a lead and tied WIU 4-4 in overtime.
The Wolves struck first as they scored four and a half minutes in the game. Mark Frankland (Clayton Le Moors, England) beat the Warriors goalie giving Stritch the 1-0 lead.
Twenty minutes later the Wolves made it a 2-0 game when Michael Cooke (Liss, England) scored his first goal of the season. Shay Douglas (Cairns, Australia) made it a 3-0 game when he beat WIU goalie for his four goal of the season.
WIU cut the Wolves lead to two goals three minutes later. Miguel Otero (Segovia, Spain) beat the Wolves goalie, Harry Shatwell (Cheshire, England) on a penalty kick making it a 3-1 Wolves lead before halftime.
Five minutes into the second half Webber International University made it a one goal game as Andy Scott (London, England) goal trimmed the Wolves lead to 3-2. The Warriors tied the game at 3-3 in the 77th minute.
With eight minutes left in the game Webber International University broke the tie and took their first lead of the game. Tolga Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany) beat Shatwell putting the Warriors up 4-3.
The Warriors lead would last less than a minute as Stritch had an answer. Konrad Raclawski (Lisle, Ill.) scored his first goal of the year and tied the game at 4-4.
The game would go into two overtimes but neither team would score and the game ended in a 4-4 tie. Stritch goes to 2-0-2 on the season. The Wolves return to action when they take on Bethany Lutheran College at home. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
