Sioux Center, Iowa- The Cardinal Stritch University Women’s soccer team battled with Dordt College but fell short. The Wolves lost 3-1 to the Defenders.
Stritch found themselves breaking onto the scoreboard first. Lynn Podkomorski (Greenfield, Wis.) grabbed the loose ball off a blocked shot, and put the ball in the back of the net. This put the Wolves up 1-0.
The Defenders tied the game at 1-1, nine minutes later. Rindy DeNooy (Sioux Center, Iowa) faked out Wolves goalkeeper, Heather McGlothin (Bloomington, Ind.), tying the game. Dordt took the lead ten minutes later when Noelle Kreykes (St. Johns, Ind.)
Dordt College extended their lead to 3-1 in the 58th minute of the match. McGlothin looked to have Kelly Smies (Oostburg, Wis.) header saved, but McGlothin took the ball across the goal line for a goal, for the Defenders.
Dordt outshot the Wolves for the game, 17-7.
Stritch returns to the field tomorrow when they take on Northwestern College (Iowa) in their final game of the NW Pizza Ranch Classic. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 P.M.
