On Tuesday, Whitney Hendon was named interim head coach for the Wolves softball program for 2011
Milwaukee, Wis. – Cardinal Stritch University Director of Athletics Pat Clemens has announced that Whitney Hendon will take over as interim head coach for the Wolves softball program. Hendon will take over for recently departed head coach Jamie Trudeau.

“I have the utmost faith in Whitney as she leads the program into next season,” Clemens said. “She has a solid relationship with the players and that made me feel comfortable with naming her the interim head coach.”

Hendon takes over after spending the past season as a graduate assistant to the program.

Before coming to Stritch, she served as the head coach for the Kentucky Lightning softball club. She also served as an assistant coach for the West Kentucky Explosion softball club, which worked with girls 14 years of age and older. She is a 2009 graduate from Murray State University with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. She also received her certification to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

The Wolves, despite finishing 7-34 overall, made positive strides as the team improved its overall batting average by 29 points and had three hitters that batted .330 or better. Sophomore Katie Giuffre (Hamilton, Wis.) paced the way for improvement as she went from batting .204 as a freshman to .351 in her second season.

Stritch ended its season with freshmen Hillary Trebiatowski (Plover, Wis.) and Brittany Rader (New Berlin, Wis.) being named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) All-Conference softball team.
