Michael Simpson will suit up for the Stritch Wolves men's basketball team in 2010-11
Milwaukee, Wis. – North Chicago, Ill. native Michael Simpson will officially suit up for the Cardinal Stritch University Wolves men’s basketball team this upcoming season. Simpson is the first member to sign for head coach Drew Diener’s recruiting class for 2010-11.
“We’re very excited to have a player like Michael coming to Stritch next season,” Diener said. “He’s a high energy player that could help us ease the transition with the graduation of senior Kody Braddix.”
A three-year varsity player for the North Chicago High School, Simpson played for a Warhawks program that was extremely strong. During his time there North Chicago went undefeated in the Prairie Division for the North Suburban Conference three seasons while also capturing three regional titles, and two sectional titles.
Simpson made the most of his time at North Chicago. Twice he was named all-conference and all-county by averaging 15.2 points per game and adding nearly six assists per game.
“Michael is a very versatile player,” Diener added. “His ability to score and create scoring opportunities should allow him to fit in well with our system.”
Simpson was not only strong on the court, but also in the classroom having been named to the Dean’s List at his high school.
The Wolves closed out the 2009-10 season at 27-6, claimed the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Division II Regular Season Championship, appeared in the 2010 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament, and were ranked as high as No. 9 nationally.
