Milwaukee, Wis. – Despite a tough loss in the Mid-America Men’s Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) East tournament championship, the Cardinal Stritch University Wolves will live to play another day. The No. 3 Wolves have been informed that they will join five other teams for the right to play for the national championship.
“It’s always exciting when you have a chance to play for a national championship,” Stritch head coach Dave Schmidlin said. “This is the second straight year that the program here at Stritch will have that opportunity and we are definitely looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
Hosted by St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, the Wolves will face the Hope International University Royals in their first match of pool play on Thursday, April 22. The two teams, which have played twice this season, will take to the court at 10 a.m. for Stritch’s only match of the day.
The Wolves will return to action, in pool play, on Friday, April 23, at 10 a.m. when they’ll take on the host Fighting Bees. The results of pool play will determine how the teams will advance as two teams will get cut with the remaining four teams playing in the semi-finals on Friday evening.
“We are extremely pleased to see our men’s volleyball team make the national tournament,” Director of Athletics Pat Clemens said. “This is the third program that we’ve had make the national tournament this year and it will be exciting to follow them on the road to a championship.”
Stritch will enter the national tournament with a 25-11 overall record and having finished second in the MAMVIC East with a 10-2 conference record. For official tournament bracket and updates, check out
