Abromaitis scored the only Wolves' run against TIU
Milwaukee, Wis. – In their first “real” home game of the year, the Cardinal Stritch University faced Trinity International University for the third time this season. The Trojans used a huge first inning to grab control of the game and never looked back, earning the 13-1 win. The Wolves struggled not only to stop TIU from scoring, but also to put hits together in the game.

Justin Calvert (Milwaukee, Wis.) started for Stritch, and the Trojans didn’t waste any time against him. The senior gave up a leadoff walk to start the game. It was just a preview of what was yet to come, as TIU went on to score six runs in the inning, three of which were unearned.

The first three Stritch batters were sat down in order before Trinity International returned to offense to do more damage. They scored four more in the inning, two of which were unearned, before fancy glove work by Andy Abromaitis (Oak Creek, Wis.) got the Wolves out of the inning.

The Wolves managed to bring in a run in the second, when Tyler Henkel (Rhinelander, Wis.) singled to
score Abromaitis, but this was the only opportunity that was capitalized on.

Justin Calvert gets the loss and moves to 2-1 on the season. Marcus Perleberg (Delafield, Wis.) entered the game in the third and held the Trojans scoreless until the sixth. In a surprise move, Coach Zolecki brought in catcher, Kyle Trewyn (Whitewater, Wis.) to close out the game. The senior gave up only two hits and two unearned runs before the game was called in seven innings.

The Wolves combined for only four hits in the match-up. These came off the bats of Mike Ploch (Burlington, Wis.), John Bahm (Justice, Ill.), Abromaitis, and Henkel. Henkel earned the only RBI for Stritch.

The Wolves fall to 12-20 overall and 6-8 in the CCAC. They have another home game on Friday, Apr. 16, at 3:30 p.m. Stritch will face Trinity Christian College. The Trolls sit directly below the Wolves in conference standings with a record of 5-10.
