Game 1
Game 2

Bourbonnais, Ill. – Cardinal Stritch University had a rough day at the plate and in the field against No. 24th ranked Olivet Nazarene University. In the two games combined Stritch combined for one hit on the afternoon and committed nine errors. The Wolves dropped both games to the Tigers 8-0 and 20-1; both games ended in five innings.

Stritch had a hard time figuring out ONU’s pitcher, Katie Hannagan (Monee, Ill.). Hannagan did not allow a hit or walk to the Wolves as she pitched a perfect game. She improved her record to 13-2 on the year.

Kayla Schlegel (New Berlin, Wis.) did not fare as well. Schlegel allowed the Tigers to pull out to an early 4-0 lead after one inning of play. In the inning, Schlegel only allowed one hit but walked two and one Tiger was hit by a pitch.

After Stritch retired the first two batters in the top of the fourth inning, Olivet Nazarene found a way to get two more runs across. They stretched the lead to 6-0 after three innings.

Olivet Nazarene tacked one more run across in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth to pull ahead 8-0. After the run crossed in the bottom of the fifth, the game was over because of the mercy rule. The loss dropped Stritch to 3-18 on the year and ONU improved to 34-4.

Game two did not fare much better for the Wolves. Stritch pulled out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Katie Giuffre (Hamilton, Wis.) walked to start the game. This was the first base runner of the day for Stritch. After Brittany Rader (New Berlin, Wis.) stuck out, Giuffre was hit home on a triple by Hillary Trebiatowski (Plover, Wis.).

The Tigers jumped all over the Wolves pitcher in the bottom of the first. Anna Flock (Norwalk, Wis.) did not record an out in the bottom of the first. She faced five batters and they all came around to score. Jodi Kruszka (Oak Creek, Wis.) came in and relieved Flock. Olivet Nazarene scored all of their runs in the first inning on no hits. After one inning was complete, the Tigers led 6-1.

ONU added seven more runs in the bottom of the second inning on four hits. Stritch also committed two of their six errors in the inning. After the inning, ONU was ahead 13-1.

The Tigers added one more run in the bottom of the third before the offense exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fourth. After the fourth inning was complete, the Tigers led 20-1. Stritch did not threaten to score in the top of the fifth.

Jordan Reynolds (Metamora, Ill.) only allowed four Stritch base runners in the game, three on walks and one hit. Reynolds improved her record to 14-1 on the year and Flock dropped to 3-7. ONU improved to 35-4 and 10-0 in CCAC and Stritch fell to 3-19 and 1-5 in the CCAC.

Stritch is back on the field when they travel to Palos Heights, Illinois to take on the Trolls of Trinity Christian College on Wednesday April 14. The Wolves return home on April 15 to take on the Eagles from Robert Morris.
