Trey Triplett and Kody Braddix were named NAIA All-Americans with their stellar play in the 2009-10 basketball season
Milwaukee, Wis. – Cardinal Stritch University Wolves men’s basketball seniors Trey Triplett (Lisle, Ill.) and Kody Braddix (Glendale, Ariz.) will close their careers as National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II Men’s Basketball All-Americans.

For Triplett, the award caps off a year in which he garnered the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Year award along with having been named CCAC All-Conference for the fourth time in his four-year career with the Wolves.

As he has done for much of his career, Triplett was the Wolves’ leading offensive force on the court throughout the season. The senior led Stritch in scoring average (17.5 ppg), total points (577), field goal percentage (.553), field goals made (239), and total rebounds (205).

Triplett’s mark on the court during his four years with Stritch will be recorded in the record books for years to come as he closes his career as the University’s all-time leader in points having wrapped up his playing days with 2,210 total points.

“Trey has done it all,” head coach Drew Diener said. “He’s won the conference awards and now been honored nationally. What a great way to go out from an individual standpoint. He’s a very special player and person and we are all proud of his success that he had during his entire career.”

This marks the third time in his career that he will garner NAIA All-American status having been named honorable mention twice and now being named NAIA Third Team All-American.

Kody Braddix also played an integral role in the Wolves’ success on the court this past season. The senior guard entered this season after having averaged 13.1 points per game as a junior and grew into a game-breaker as he finished his final season averaging 16.4 points per game, good for third on the team.

One of the most durable players on the court, Braddix led all Stritch players in minutes played by averaging just under 31 minutes per game. He was also one of the team’s top defenders, having led the team in steals with 68 on the year.

With Braddix having been named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention, he adds to his mantle of individual awards as well as he was named CCAC All-Conference for the second consecutive season after having transferred to Stritch before the start of his junior season.

“Kody is one of those special players,” Diener added. “A smart kid who plays hard and really embraced our style of play, it’s special to see such a quiet and talented player gain this type of recognition.”

Triplett and Braddix both played key roles in helping the Wolves to finish this past season at 27-6 overall. Through their efforts, Stritch also achieved a ranking of No. 9 in the country, won the CCAC Regular Season Championship, and claimed a berth to the 2010 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Tournament for the first time in over four seasons.

Both players will graduate from Stritch at the end of this year and will have combined to score over 3,143 points in their career.
