Box Score
St. Charles, Mo. – The start of a two-match road trip didn’t get off to the best of starts for the Cardinal Stritch University Wolves men’s volleyball team. Stritch fell in three games on the road against the Missouri Baptist University Spartans by scores of 30-26, 30-24, and 30-28.
During Friday night’s loss, the Wolves were led in kills by Vladimir Frenc (Belgrade, Serbia). Already the team leader in kills, with 75, Frenc pushed that total to 83 as the junior added nine during the match. Freshman Adam Cosson (West Allis, Wis.) logged seven kills on 23 attempts while senior Matt Tauaese added six.
Senior setter Garrett Payne (San Diego, Calif.) helped pace the offense by adding 29 assists while Chris Arquilla (Willow Springs, Ill.) had a team-high six digs on the day.
The Spartans’ winning efforts were led by Matt Mahoney (Florissant, Mo.) and Jon Roldan (Miami, Fla.). The pair combined for 22 kills with Mahoney accounting for 12 of them.
The loss drops the Wolves to 4-2 overall while the Spartans improve to 4-3 on the season. Stritch will take to the court again on Saturday as they head to St. Louis, Mo. to face the Lindenwood University Lions. The Wolves and Lions are set to hook up at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Athletes of the Month
Women's Cross Country
Women's cross country runner Jocelyn Ritger (Wesst Bend, Wis.) becomes one of two athletes at Stritch to be named Athlete of the Month for the first time ever in school history.
Ritger, a junior at Stritch, has been pacing the way all season long for the Wolves women's cross country team. The team's leading top finisher in all seven of the team's meets, Ritger placed as high as fifth overall in the Falcon Invite on Sept. 19 and sixth in the Wisconsin Private College Championship (WPCC) on Oct. 17.
The Wolves' leading runner closed out the season on a high note as she recorded a season-best time of 24:27 in the 6K during the WPCC. She also would finish in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) meet in 12th place with a finishing time of 20:33, barely missing a chance to qualify for nationals.

Men's Soccer
Senior men's soccer player Andy Collins (Burnley, England) becomes one of two athletes at Stritch to be named Athlete of the Month for the first time ever in school history.
Collins had a stellar final season for the Wolves to earn Athlete of the Month for November. The Stritch midfielder was first on the team with a career-high eight goals and second on the team with 17 overall points as the Wolves finished the season at 12-6-1 overall and 7-3 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Collins was also first for Stritch with four game-winning goals in the 2009 season.
Capping off a strong final season, the senior co-captain finished the year by being named to the CCAC All-Conference team as honorable mention. For Collins, it is the second time in his career that he's earned this distinction.

Nicknames
Cardinal Stritch University Athletics has had three nicknames since its inception. In 1971, Stritch was known as the Red Devils as voted on by the student body. In 1982, that name was changed to the Crusaders. Stritch would go by the Crusaders nickname until 2001. During 2001, Stritch officially became known as the Wolves, which is the current mascot of Cardinal Stritch University Athletics.
