Stelloh Earns Her Second Double-Double of the Season
Milwaukee, Wis. – The Cardinal Stritch University women’s basketball team won their 11th straight game to remain undefeated in the CCAC with an 80-51 win over the Judson University Eagles on Wednesday. Michelle Stelloh (West Allis, Wis.) recorded her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds, leading the way for the Stritch.
The Wolves jumped out to a quick lead in the first half, as the Eagles struggled to get their offense going, scoring only five points in the first ten minutes of the period. Stelloh and Liz Neitzel (Lomira, Wis.) took control for the Wolves, putting up 12 and nine points, respectively, in the half. All 12 of Stelloh’s points came off of three-point shots. Stritch more than doubled Judson’s offensive production, taking a 48-14 lead into the locker room at the half.
The second period was much of the same, although eight three-pointers by the Eagles slightly narrowed the Wolves lead. Kirsten Johns (Belvidere, Ill.) scored 14 of Judson’s 37 second half points, but it wasn’t enough for the comeback. Brittney Daum (Gilberts, Ill.) found her stroke, adding eight points in the second period, while Lisa Lawrence came off the bench to contribute six rebounds and five points in the Wolves 80-51 win.
Johns led the Eagles, scoring all of her 14 points in the second period. Aubrey Parsons (Sterling, Ill.) added nine points in the losing effort. ShaRhonda Huff (Chattanooga, Tenn.) pulled down a team-high six rebounds for Judson.
Stelloh led the Wolves in scoring and under the basket, with 19 points and 11 rebounds. CCAC Player of the Week, Neitzel, added 16 points for the Wolves, and Daum recorded 14. Renet Skorusa (Lemont, Ill.) pulled down seven rebounds in the win.
The Wolves improve to 22-2 overall and 7-0 in the CCAC with the win. They will play at home this weekend against Finlandia University on Saturday, Feb. 6. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
