Cross Country Closes Out 2009 Season
Joliet, Ill. – The men’s and women’s cross country teams for Cardinal Stritch University wrapped up their 2009 season on Saturday afternoon. Competing in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) cross country meet, the women’s team finished in seventh place while the men finished in ninth place.
On the women’s side, Jocelyn Ritger (West Bend, Wis.) had another strong racing day finishing in 12th place with a time of 20:33 in the women’s 5k. Ritger just narrowly missed qualifying for the national meet by three spots.
In other finishers for the women, Malorie Hauch (Sheboygan, Wis.) and Claire Wolf (Allentown, Wis.) finished in 58th and 59th with times of 24:07 and 24:08. Brittany Suleski (Port Washington, Wis.) closed out the day with a time of 25:01 while Marcie Weiss (Twin Lakes, Wis.) ended the day in 71st place with a time of 26:07.
During the women’s 5k run, nine teams were represented by a total of 77 runners.
Competing in the men’s 8k, the Stritch men had five runner finish from the field of 98. Freshman Shawn Wagner (Denmark, Wis.) led the Wolves by finishing in 67th place with a time of 31:27. The Wolves also saw Quinn Crawford (Burlington, Wis.) finish in 74th place with a time of 32:04.
Other finishers for the Stritch men included Jake Tanel (Menomonee Falls, Wis.), Trevor Rees (Waukesha, Wis.) and Aaron Abraham (Menomonee Falls, Wis.). Tanel and Rees finished in 85th and 86th place with times of 36:14 and 36:27. Abraham closed out the day in 91st place with a time of 38:17.
