Milwaukee, Wis. – The Cardinal Stritch University Wolves women’s soccer team fell in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) soccer matchup against Trinity International University. Playing on an unusually cold day, with flurries, the Wolves fell to the Trojans by a score of 1-0.
The two teams played fairly evenly during the first half of Saturday’s contest, but it would be the Trojans that would strike first for the game’s lone goal. TIU’s Rachel Bowker (Philadelphia, Penn.) was able to get a clear shot in on Wolves’ goalkeeper Amy Weaver (Barnoldswick, England), who made the initial save, but the Trojan’s Njoka Mutua (Nairobi, Kenya) was able to put the loose ball into the back of the net.
The game would stay that way the rest of the match as neither team would get consistent pressure on the other. The Trojans were able to generate 14 shots, with nine of them going on net. Meanwhile the Wolves were able to get eight shots out with three of them making it on goal.
Weaver played solid for the Wolves through the loss. The senior goalkeeper kept Stritch in the game by registering eight saves in Saturday’s match.
With the loss, Stritch falls to 2-12 overall and 1-5 in the CCAC. The Trojans improved to 4-7-1 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
