Bourbonnais, Ill. – The Cardinal Stritch University women’s soccer team couldn’t stop Olivet Nazarene University’s offense on Saturday. The Tigers took control almost immediately and never let go, beating the Wolves 8-0.

Olivet took 19 shots in each half, compared to the Wolves’ one, which was taken by defender, Lynn Podkoroski (Oak Creek, Wis.). The first goal for the Tigers came less than two minutes into play as Cara Sunberg (Fort Wayne, Ind.) shot at an open net. Olivet scored twice more in the first period. Abbey Palmer (Circleville, Oh.) scored one of her three goals in the 26th minute and Katrina Holm (Antioch, Ill.) put away the ball after she broke away from Stritch defenders.

The Tigers continued to dominate in the second period, as Janel Schmitt (Geneva, Ill.), Devin Johnston (Bloomingdale, Ill.), and Meghan Pipal (Wheaton, Ill.) all scored unassisted goals. Stritch goal keeper, Amy Weaver (Barnoldswick, England) left the game after giving up six goals and saving 11 shots. Heather Mc Glothlin (Bloomington, Ind.) took over for her, but Olivet’s offense didn’t let up. Palmer scored twice more for the Tigers before the end of the match on passes from Jessica Jones (Carol Stream, Ill.) and Katie Dirkse (Carol Stream, Ill.).

The Wolves fall to 2-10 with the loss. They will face Trinity Christian at home this Tuesday, October 6. The game is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
